Now we know how super-volcanoes blow

LOS ANGELES TIMES

Italy's Mt. Stromboli, which has erupted almost continuously for some 2,000 years, is a mere pinprick in Earth compared with super-volcanoes, which can eject enough material to bury a large city several miles deep. Scientists have figured out that the buoyancy pressure exerted by massive magma reservoirs is sufficient to cause the massive volcanic events.
