We Love Lucy

Clad head to toe in white and clutching candles, children take part in a Sankta Lucia, or Saint Lucy, procession at the historic York Minster in northern England. The festival is part of a Swedish tradition which shares many similarities with advent processions and symbolizes bringing light into the dark Scandinavian winter. The Swedes also eat a kind of bun made with saffron called a Lussekatt to mark the occasion. /Der Spiegel
