Japan’s woes make G20 targets meaningless

Japan’s public finances are in such bad shape and its economic problems so protracted that it was singled out for special treatment on the weekend by fellow G20 members. Alone among advanced economies, ailing Japan won an exemption from new targets designed to rein in public spending, bring down soaring budget deficits and stabilize debt-to-GDP ratios. /The Globe And Mail (Toronto)
