Tropical Storm Isaias has officially formed in the Atlantic Ocean, the ninth named storm system of the busy 2020 hurricane season. The storm is expected to pass over Hispaniola on Thursday and the Southeastern Bahamas by early Friday, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm will most likely strengthen by Friday, and Florida and Cuba should monitor Isaias’ path over the next few days, the center said. On Wednesday night, Isaias was 155 miles south of Ponce, Puerto Rico, moving west-northwest around 20 m.p.h. with maximum winds of 50 m.p.h. A tropical storm warning is in effect for Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra, U.S. Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, St. Martin and St. Barthelemy, Saba and St. Eustatius, St. Maarten, Turks and Caicos Islands and parts of the Dominican Republic, Haiti and the Bahamas.
