China-made manned submersible reaches 3,759 meters beneath waves

The file photo shows the submersible "Jiaolong" catching a sample of deep sea's living beings during one dive in the South China Sea in July of 2010. A China-made manned submersible ['dränkbar'] , dubbed "Jiaolong" and designto dive to a depth of 7,000 meters, had successfully reached 3,759 meters beneath the waves during a mtest, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) of China announced Thursday. It made China the fifth country, following the United States, France, Russia and Japan, to have the technologies for a manned dive to more than 3,500 meters below sea level.

Djuphavet, djuphavsforskning har intresserat mig ända sedan pojkåren då jag läste, och fascinerades av bilderna i en bok av, eller var det om  Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
