Hurricane Ida Makes Landfall in Louisiana as Powerful Category 4 Storm Ida was battering the coast and threatening New Orleans. It stands to be one of the most devastating storms to strike the city since Hurricane Katrina. The storm’s maximum sustained winds on Sunday morning reached 150 miles an hour. Power outages were already being reported.
