Washington Post:"News Alert11:14 PM EST Saturday, November 7, 2009 House passes landmark health-care reform bill, 220-215 The House has passed sweeping health-care legislation, hours after President Obama visited the Capitol to make a personal closing argument for his most important domestic policy initiative.".

"The current health care system is a national disgrace. 50 million people without insurance and unless you are very rich or very poor, the rest of the insured are a bad life evident away from disaster. Among the top 50 industrial countries we tend to have shorter lives, tend to have a lower standard of living, higher death rates among infants and for all of this our current brilliant private health insurance is light years ahead on cost than any other country. I often hear the head in the sand opponents of this bill say we have the best health care in the world. Yes, if you are rich. If not you are or could be in big trouble. I have many friends in Europe who are dumbfounded why we put up with such a medival system. I remember in the 60's when congress members opposed the civil rights bill and medicare saying it would ruin the country. Well today, they are looked at as some of America's finest moments.".
