Green Death

A man drives a horse-drawn sulky across the estuary of Gouessant, near the Bay of Saint-Brieuc in northwestern France. The area has recently seen an unusual influx of wild boar deaths: Carcasses started turning up at the height of holiday season. According to the Los Angeles Times, environmentalists believe that potentially lethal algae -- possibly the result of nitrates found in the fertilizers of local farmers -- are behind the deaths.
