Chinese president attends Russian Victory Day celebrations

Chinese President Hu Jintao joined other state leaders in Moscow on Sunday in celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War over Nazi Germany.

According to the program, Hu and other leaders were to take part in a series of celebratory activities, including a military parade on the Red Square, a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, and a banquet hosted by President Dmitry Medvedev.

Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov said earlier that more than 10,000 personnel, 159 military armaments, 127 aircraft and helicopters would participate in the Red Square parade.
