Amazon rainforest under threat - act now!‏

The Amazon rainforest is facing its biggest threat ever. Damaging changes to Brazil's Forest Code - the main laws protecting the rainforest - were just approved by Brazil's Senate. These changes open up the Amazon to rampant deforestation and we now stand to lose more of this amazing ecosystem to destruction.

Soon the only thing standing between the Amazon and the chainsaws will be Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who can veto these changes. All of us have a stake in protecting this irreplacable resource, including President Dilma. You can urge her to protect the Amazon and veto the new Forest Code.

The Amazon is home to one in ten of the world's animal species, it is crucial to the livelihoods of local people, and it is a vital carbon storage system that can help us avoid the worst consequences of climate change. Send the message that people all over the world will not stand by and let it be destroyed.
Thank you for speaking out with us.

All of us,
Greenpeace International
