Gaddafi Convoys Cross Libya

Muammar Gaddafi still won't go gently into that good night. Rebels in Az Zawiyah—just 30 miles from Tripoli, the capital—reportedly turned back a force of fighters loyal to the embattled general Monday night, staging a parade to celebrate their victory. But Gaddafi is doubling down on his crackdown, even as the international community discusses options including military intervention to topple him. Reporters say government troop convoys are rolling into remote regions that haven't seen much government presence, heavily armed and ready to clash with protesters. It appears to be a last-ditch offensive by Gaddafi, whose control over the country has steadily eroded to little more than Tripoli.
