Cruises Swarm Hamburg

A record number of cruise passengers arrived in Hamburg in 2012. A spokesperson for Hamburg Cruise Centers (HCC) said on Thursday that with 430,000 passengers and a growth of 37 percent compared to the previous year, the metropolis on the Elbe River came out as the top cruise port for all of Germany.
The port of Hamburg was visited 160 times by cruise ships last year. That was an increase of 36 percent compared to 2011. Numbers are expected to rise further this year. Some 173 ship arrivals and more than 500,000 passengers are expected for the 2013 season, said HCC Chairperson Stefan Behn./Germany.info
