U.S. experts see chilly China visit



WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — A storm overnight left Washington coated in ice, a fitting metaphor for the state visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao, experts said Tuesday.

The White House has adopted a chilly and frank tone ahead of Hu’s arrival, after giving up on the idea they could charm China into a productive bilateral relationship, said Elizabeth Economy, director of Asia Studies at the Council of Foreign Relations. ---
