Stocks Soar on Stronger Signs of Global Recovery


NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Stocks held strong gains Tuesday amid signs that the global economy isn't as weak as some feared.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up by 139 points, or 1.2%, at 12,092. The S&P 500 was gaining 17 points, or 1.4%, at 1289, and the Nasdaq was ahead by 41 points, or 1.6%, at 2681.
