Andy Murray of Scotland on Monday fended off a late rally by Novak Djokovic of Serbia to win the United States Open championship, 7-6 (12), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2, taking home his first Grand Slam title.
With the victory, Murray became the first man from Great Britain to win a singles Grand Slam title since 1936.
